Creative wedding photographyis what Michelle Gunton Photography specializes in. Being creative in my wedding photography is what gets my heart pumping. In some senarios I get to turn a great picture into what I call a piece of art, from laying textures on a picture, making a picture look dreamy, to tenting and black and white photography. The heart flutter doesn’t stop there though, its being at a wedding and being in charge of the camera settings to decide whether I want the background blurred out, whether I want there to be a spotlight on you while dancing, or my new thing zooming in while snapping the picture to give a very cool effect. Samples of creative photography are below. Before I even get home from photographing a wedding I already have my favorite photos embedded in my head, heart flutter, and know exactly what artsy thing I’m going to do to the picture, how do I know? Well being creative I knew before I took the picture what I would get on the back end in photoshop.
I had a potential groom this year ask me if I could leave most of their pictures in color and maybe some black and whites. Really I asked? Writing this now makes me giggle b/c I wonder if they had looked at my website. I had to tell him no, yes I had to turn business away b/c they were not a good fit for me. I don’t do this merely to get a paycheck, I am a Raleigh wedding photographer b/c I love being an artist and I love expressing myself, and I love producing photojournalistic moments that make you feel something.
The wedding photo below is actually a daring shot. This was the first time I had tried this during a dip but I knew before I snapped the picture that I wanted this dip to feel like movement and thats exactly what I got. I love it!

What can I say about this image except I love it. This image was shot about 3:00 in the afternoon, but I wanted you believe it was taken at night. That’s not a moon in the background and that’s what makes this image even cooler, see why I love my job as a photographer?
In this next creative wedding image what I saw was an unmarried couple embracing the beautiful day and the love they share. I could have chosen to fire the flash so you could see their arms but I wanted you to see the beauty they were looking at.
This image I chose to go with available light rather than firing the flash. The final touch ups of a bride getting ready before the big moment. I love how the light is lighting her face and the simplicity of the lamp and chair in the background
