Raleigh Newborn Photographer| Baby photography| 8 days old

To be a newborn photographer you have to have a lot of patience and a gentle touch. Babies pretty much decide how the session will go. They can sleep the whole time or decide they want to be fussy the whole time. I am a go with the flow type photographer so it does not stress me if the newborn decides not to cooperate, thats why newborn baby sessions last 2-3 hrs. I provide cute hats, baskets, and head bows for the girls.

This baby girl came to visit when she was 8 days old. In the beginning she cried just a little but with a little time and soothing she fell asleep and allowed me to get some very cute moments. Her parents will cherish this forever. Enjoy the cuteness

Wedding Venue | The Matthew’s House Cary NC

Looking for a perfect venue to host your wedding. The Matthew’s House in Cary has a beautiful reception hall and also has great outdoor weddings. I was excited to be the wedding photographer for Anna’s wedding. Sometimes as a photographer you get a client whose just so easy going, so full of joy and love, doesn’t ask for anything, and totally puts their trust in you, that was Anna and her mom. Wow what a pleasure it was.

The flowers were done by the one and only Gregg with Brides and Bouqu ets. I highly recommend his services, he does beautiful flower arrangements!!

Chef Richard of course knocked it out of the park again. I have photographed a lot of weddings at the Matthew’s House and I’m never let down with how freaking good Chef Richard’s food is. If I had to pick a caterer for an event he would be in my top 2 choices, that’s saying A LOT since I have tried numerous caterer’s food.

A Sutherland Wedding | Venue Wake Forest

Tara and Chris’s wedding at The Sutherland wedding venue in March was stunning. Tara couldnt have gotten more beautiful weather in March. Early that morning it was raining but when I arrived at the venue the sun was shining.

I loved the decor they chose for the wedding reception as you will see in the photographs green and pink really pop off the page. Tara’s wedding planner was Karen with A perfect Match Weddings , and her wedding florist was The Purple Poppy.

Being Tara’s wedding photographer was very special to me because we actually worked together about 10 years ago when our paths happened to cross again in 2011, so glad it did.

Tara’s Bridal Portraits | The Sutherland | Wedding Venue

Now that Tara and Chris are married, I can show Tara’s bridal portraits done at The Sutherland in Wake Forest, NC. The Sutherland is a beautiful wedding venue and I cant wait to post their wedding photos. Tara and I actually worked together about 10 years ago, and we happened to cross paths last year. Tara is as fun as I remember her being. She’s outgoing, a go with the flow type bride and someone I consider a friend.

Florida Destination Wedding Photographer- Coral Gables-South Beach

Raleigh, NC based wedding photographer, Michelle Gunton Photography, is available for Destination weddings. Recently I had the opportunity to travel to Coral Gables, Florida to photograph my first destination wedding. Lauren’s original photographer friend canceled on her a month and a half before her wedding date so I was happy to get the opportunity. Lauren and I did all corresponding through email since Lauren Lives in Florida. I am not one who really likes to fly and have never flown by myself so my destination wedding packages comes with a 2nd photographer. Michelle Robinson Photography was free and was able to join me on this new adventure. All I can say is it was like the blind leading the blind when it came to the airports. Michelle’s husband Joe was kind enough to walk us through the Raleigh airport to make sure we got where we needed to be and then we were on our own when we arrived in Fl. We laughed at our selves alot. We both had 2 large bags and I also had a laptop bag and what we learned on the way home was that airports have carts you can put your luggage on, haha We didnt realize that when we arrived so we had to go up and down escalators, elevators and walked a mile through the Miami airport, rode on trams, needless to say we were tired and had to stop and take breaks, but we did it. We were so proud of ourselves never having flown before by ourselves. Something I also learned was if you cant afford first class the next best thing is the isle seat, it has a lot more room than the normal seat that we had on the return flight to Raleigh. I think I have officially conquered my fear of flying, yaayyyy. I look forward to my destination weddings in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in July and then also my destination wedding to Jamaica in November this year.

Lauren and Gorge wanted a day after session at South Beach,FL on that Sunday after the wedding and wouldnt you know it was the coldest day Miami had seen in quite some time, 40 degrees. Poor Lauren had the goosebumps, but she was a trooper and I’m glad she was b/c we were able to get some amazing photographs. Gorge was a trooper too, I told him the night before he could wear whatever he wanted as long as he came, haha. The only sad thing about the beach photo session was the ocean ate Laurens veil. She was totally fine but I’m sure a little part of her had to be a little disappointed, I was just happy it wasnt her mother’s wedding veil. I was born and raised in Myrtle Beach, SC so being at the beach made me feel like I was at home. If you are having a beach wedding I would love to be your wedding photographer. Maternity Photographer in Raleigh NC

Here is the photography from Tonya’s Maternity session in NC. I have loved photographing Tonya over the past couple of years, she is so beautiful! Tonya gave me creative freedom to do whatever I wanted for her maternity pictures, which really makes me happy. I love the photo of her silhouetted in front of the blue window. Its sooo sexy. Being a mother myself I know that being pregnant you dont always feel so pretty so my approach to maternity photography is to produce something sexy, produce something casual, and of course always something creative.

Raleigh Newborn, Baby and Child Photographer

As a Raleigh Newborn and baby child photographer, I love photographing babies. I will be the first to admit that it is probably the hardest session to do. Newborns are totally unpredictable, some babies cry the whole session and some sleep the whole session. Some babies will let you position them any way you want but others, well lets just say they let you know they dont like it, lol.

Ashlynn’s newborn photography session lasted 3hrs, yep that long, but most of the time was spent consoling her. I tell my clients that we go with the flow of the child. I dont ever want to force a baby to do something he/she doesnt want to do, we wait until they are ready. The photos below will lead you to believe she was asleep the whole time, haha not the case at all, but I waited for my shots and the end result was great. A big thank you to LiL Joey’s Children’s Resale store for supplying the white tutu outfit, and also the red and black.

Wedding Photographic Society Photographer of the year

The WPS (Wedding Photographic Society) announced the photographer of the year Friday night and to my total shock it was me. I would like to give a big thanks To Brian Mullins Photography for the images from the party in the slide show below. You will see by the photos that I cried a lot, such great moments he captured!!! I was so humbled b/c I was in a room full of photographers who I highly respected in the wedding and portrait industry and couldn’t believe it was me.

I would not be where I am at today if it weren’t for you, my client. I appreciate each and everyone one of you. I wish I could insert joke here, haha. Have I told you lately that blogging is the thing I do not like about my job, just being honest here. haha its a must, to stay up with the times though.

To my really close photographer friends Michelle, Nicole, and Tara, I’m really thankful you are in my life. I don’t think I have ever told you this but ya’ll inspire me to be a better photographer and a better person. I am soooo excited that I have 3 destination weddings this year and I get to share one with each of you.

With tradition “WOOOOHOOOO” I got photographer of the year :-) and “WEEEEEEEEEEE” (Yes I love the pig commercial’s)

Family Portraits – Raleigh NC

Ohhh how I love photographing Jen’s family portraits. I have been taking photos of the girls since they were newborns so its been fun to watch the children grow up over the past 2 years. You can click the following link to see their newborn session Newborn Photography .The girls are really really shy so we decided to do the portraits at a park in Cary, NC and boy was it a cold November morning. Haha and this Raleigh photographer does not like the bitter cold. We took a few posed pictures but for the most part we just let the girls do what they wanted. Patience is key when working with small children. I hope you enjoy this family session.

Michelle Gunton Photography, wedding photographer in Raleigh, NC has again been nationally recognized by the AGWPJA.( The Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association.) The judges comments were “Very funny image and nice toning. I think that as strong as this image is, it would be even stronger if there were a tighter crop. The left side of the image is really not needed and distracts from this wonderful caught moment. ” The reason that I chose not to crop in on the picture was b/c with a tighter crop you would not know that the photo was from a mirror, not straight on. Yes, as a creative photographer when I snapped the photo I really wish I had the other bridesmaids face in the picture but I wanted the moment and I was afraid it wouldn’t last long enough. My split decision still paid off in the end.

There are soooo many Raleigh Wedding photographers in NC, so why hire me? You should hire me for my creativity and ability to think out of the box. I go above and beyond what your being charged. You have a chance of having a nationally recognized wedding photo. Another thing to consider is my photography studio is built onto my house so I am able to keep my cost lower than another high end wedding photographer who might be paying rent for their space. I am also able to keep my wedding package cost down because I do not out source my albums nor do I out source the processing of my images. If a photographer has these added cost they have to basically raise their prices to cover this cost. I dont know how many times I have heard ” Michelle you need to raise your prices, your worth more than you are charging.” It makes me feel good to hear this from photographer’s who are charging 4000.00-6000.00 for services. You are getting a GREAT deal when you hire me as your wedding photographer.
