River Ridge Golf in Raleigh NC is a beautiful wedding venue. Cristina and Ryan’s wedding ceremony was held outside which made for a beautiful fall wedding. As a wedding photographer I particularly love photographing weddings outside b/c of all the beautiful colors. I would have to say the thing I remember the most is the moment Cristina looked out the window and realized her dad had shown up to the wedding. Cristina had not seen her spoke to her dad in years. She became a little overwhelmed, but shortly after got herself together. I didn’t know who her dad was but a week after the wedding I contacted Cristina and said I photographed this one shot that was very powerful of a man sitting at the ceremony site by himself and asked if that was her dad, she wrote back and said I haven’t seen it yet but that makes me want to cry, it ended up being her dad. This picture speaks so many things to me. Probably a man reflecting on his life and the mistakes he had made with his daughter, but also maybe getting peace that on her special day he got to see her marry the man of her dreams, ok so I just gave my own self goose bumps writing this, powerful stuff. Wedding pictures should reflect not just the details and all the fancy pretty stuff, but the connections, the relationships, the love, laughter, the tears. The most important thing to me is capturing the emotion of your wedding day. The DJ that rocked the house was Randal Calloway, 87 sounds. Randal really kept the party going. Randal’s wife Valonda Calloway was the MC for the event. Elissa Schubert, the event coordinator, was a pleasure to work with. I knew after Cristina’s wedding I had another one coming up at River Ridge and was excited to work Elissa again b/c she made the first one sooo fun. Cant wait till out next one.
